What is Career, Wellbeing & Life Design Coaching?


I sent my website to a friend for feedback and she was generous with her time and thoughts. Something she said, along other feedback that she gave guided me through this content. "The content on the website is emotionally aligned but as a first time visitor to the website and someone who is new to "Coaching".. I’m not sure:

• Do I get structured sessions?

• Is there goal setting?

• Is there homework?

• Is this therapy?

• Is this career strategy?" If you’ve made your way to the work we do at Karma Journey Co., you might also be asking similar questions.

This post explains what to expect when you work with me through Career Coaching, Wellbeing Coaching, or Designing Your Life Coaching. While I use structured frameworks and evidence-informed tools, no two coaching journeys look the same. Even within group coaching, each individual’s experience will differ. I always try to offer options and adaptable tools so you can engage in ways that suit your needs, pace, and learning style.

Each session is tailored to your needs, goals, and context. I draw on a range of approaches from career development theories, strategic career planning tools, mindfulness-based therapies and life design frameworks.

You are not placed into a fixed formula. We co-create the process as we go, ensuring the work remains relevant, responsive, and aligned with where you are in your journey.

My Approach - Integrative Coaching Grounded in Counselling Practice I work with people who want more clarity, direction and meaning in their work and life. We combine practicality with thoughtful reflection so you can move forward in a way that feels aligned, not just impressive on paper or online.

Wellbeing Coaching - Self-Awareness and Breaking the Stress Loop Wellbeing coaching is grounded in mindfulness-based therapies, including but not limited to principles such as:

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

What happens in wellbeing coaching sessions?

We focus on emotional awareness and regulation.

Research shows that when we accurately name emotions, their intensity decreases. Instead of “I’m stressed,” we unpack whether it’s:

  • Resentment

  • Exhaustion

  • Disappointment etc.

We also:

  • Identify stress triggers

  • Work with nervous system responses

  • Develop grounding practices

  • Build emotional regulation tools

Between sessions, you may engage in brief mindfulness-based practices, structured reflections, and energy-mapping exercises. We’ll also explore the dynamic relationship between your actions, emotions, and overall wellbeing, helping you understand how each influences the other.

Designing Your Life Coaching - Life + Work Come Together Designing Your Life Coaching is inspired by the design thinking approach developed by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans at Stanford University and their book Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life. Rather than searching for one perfect path, this method treats your life and career as ongoing design projects, encouraging you to explore options, experiment with possibilities, and refine your direction through learning and iteration.

  • You sense a bigger shift is needed

  • You’re tired of repeating the same patterns

  • You want more meaning and alignment in your life + work

What happens in Designing Your Life sessions?

We look to:

  • Reframe problems into design challenges

  • Generate multiple future possibilities

  • Prototype small, low-risk experiments

  • Gather real-world data about what energises you

This approach reduces pressure and increases momentum by becoming curious and having a bias to action.

It’s structured, creative, and grounded in action. What Makes This Different

Many professionals are strong in “doing mode” - fixing, planning, analysing.

Few are supported in “being mode” - awareness, emotional literacy, regulation.

My work integrates both.
